GSL Congress #1

September 21, 2021

Those of you planning to attend the first GSL Congress should read this post carefully!

First, please check the ENTRY. If you are signed up, we will have quick mandatory logistics meetings after school Thursday, Sept. 23rd. If you can't make it, please let Borgs know in advance. Additionally, before the meeting, please read the INVITATION and bring any questions you have about the rules or the schedule.

Second, we will discuss on Thursday how to do research, brainstorm, and divide up research for the event. We are going to ask other members of the team to help contribute since this will be our docket for the season. You can review the LEGISLATION now and come with ideas for arguments you think we can make for all of them!

Third, in order to compete, you must complete your TEAM REQUIREMENTS. You can check your STATUS any time. If you have questions about how to complete these, please ask. These need to be done by Monday, Sept. 27th at 3 pm. Varsity, you need to have at least 10 of your 20 rounds done to compete.

Fourth, Thomas and Rachel will tell you Thursday what the practice schedule will look...

September 18, 2021

If you signed up to go to the GSL Workshop, you can find all the information you need here!

First, please check to see what you SIGNED UP for and let me know if any times change. If you have not yet, let the GSL Board know that you are planning to attend

Second, you should review the SCHEDULE and make sure you have access to the ZOOM link. Remember that you will have a chance to attend ONE session for each hour. So while there are four different sessions going on in each timeslot, you are just selecting ONE to attend at the time. So make sure you have looked and decide which ONE session you attend each hour. If you have questions about this please ask!

Third, since we have just a few people signed up for Monday's two sessions, we will ask that you just view it on your own. However, on Tuesday, we will plan to watch it together! This is NOT required but an option to help you get the know the team and ask questions while watching! We will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church (14088 Clayton Rd). Masks are not required, however, since this...

NSDA Districts 2021

February 16, 2021

This information is for anyone who has been offered or is being extended a position at NSDA Districts for both Congressional Debate (2/27) or Speech & Debate District (3/11-3/13). Please read all the information carefully, note all dates, and reply as requested! Failure to meet these requirements will lead to a revocation of your spot.

FIRST, check the ENTRY. Note that there are two tabs - one for each separate tournament weekend. Please note that if you accept your spot, you are declaring that you are not only available for the tournament itself but ALSO the qualifying tournament (June 12-19). IF YOU NEED TO DROP, I need to know ASAP so we can fill an alternate.

IF YOU ARE DOUBLE or TRIPLE entered, you need to print out and fill out the SINGLE ENTRY form. Because you can only compete at the national tournament in one event but can enter districts in up to three (if you are doing congress) you must declare in advance which event you would compete in if you were to qualify in all of them. NOTE that if you are entered in a partner event you are REQUIRED to prefer it or agree with...

Happy Sunday and Happy Valentine's Day. I am so proud of all things we have accomplished this regular season. We FINALLY have a break this coming weekend. Time to rest up and gear up for DISTRICTS SEASON!

First, congrats to all those who competed this weekend at Marquette. RESULTS are posted. As with this whole season, patience was required so we could engage in the activity we love. Thank you for sticking it out this weekend and all season long!

Second, here is the plan for the week. As we enter the postseason, things will shift a bit:

  • Tuesday - Districts Meeting for ALL districts competitors @ 3:30
  • Wednesday & Thursday - Meetings/Practices CHECK HERE

Finally, districts are set. There is a MANDATORY meeting TUESDAY, Feb. 16th. We will meet at 3:30. Details, as I get them, will be posted on the DISTRICTS tab.

This is it, folks. From here on out, our goal is to do all we can to achieve the goal, to qualify for State or Nationals. Your coaches, captains, and teammates are all here to support you. Please look ahead at the next few weeks and plan. You have to put your health and school before debate....
